Velvety ripe papaya blends beautifully with cold milk to create a creamy, naturally sweet drink that feels both refreshing and indulgent. A touch of honey or sugar enhances the tropical flavour, while a sprinkle of cardamom or a few drops of vanilla can take it up a notch. The soft coral hue of the shake is so inviting that it’s hard not to pour yourself a second glass before the first is even finished.

This smoothie is a lovely way to start the day or to enjoy as an afternoon pick-me-up. Papaya adds a smooth richness, while its digestive benefits make this drink as wholesome as it is delicious. Serve it chilled, topped with a few papaya cubes or crushed ice for that café-style touch. It’s a simple, sunny blend that captures the essence of tropical comfort in every sip. Although a good tip to note is ‘papain’ in papaya with milk may not suit everyone, use a vegan alternative such as almond milk instead!

Ingredients
  • 1 Cup/250 gm papaya
  • ½ Cup chilled milk + extra to adjust
  • Few ice cubes
  • Honey/Sugar to taste
  • Black pepper powder to sprinkle (optional)
  • Vanilla (optional)
Method
  1. Deseed a ripe papaya, scoop out the seeds and fibre, peel skin
  2. Chop and add into a blender/mixer jar
  3. Pour chilled milk
  4. Also add a few ice cubes
  5. Next add a sweetener of your choice, I have added honey here
  6. Blend until smooth and creamy
  7. Serve chilled
Notes
Use any milk of choice, almond milk works well

Papaya Milkshake thickens as it sits, serve chilled immediately

Papaya Milkshake Stepwise:

Deseed a ripe papaya, scoop out the seeds and fibre, peel skin
 
Chop and add into a blender/mixer jar

Pour chilled milk

Also add a few ice cubes

Next add a sweetener of your choice, I have added honey here

Blend until smooth and creamy

Serve chilled immediately
