Make them for a quick Sunday morning breakfast or brunch and serve them with any kind of fruits or berries you have on hand. But remember, do not miss the bananas. Ripe bananas go really well with whole wheat pancakes.

Eggless Whole Wheat Pancakes served warm with blueberries, bananas and honey or golden syrup

Ingredients
  • 1 Cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ ripe banana
  • 1 or 2 Tsp orange zest
  • A small pinch of salt
  • 3 tsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • Milk to make batter

To serve:
  • Golden syrup
  • Sliced bananas
  • Blueberries
  • Honey and/or Golden Syrup
Method
  1. Sift a cup of whole wheat flour along with the salt into a large mixing bowl
  2. Mash and add half a ripe banana along with the orange zest
  3. Slowly mix in milk as required to make a thick (dosa like) batter
  4. Add brown sugar and mix well
  5. Add a heaping ½ tsp baking powder. Mix well
  6. Add butter and mix well
  7. Heat a skillet or pan. Make pancakes
  8. Serve warm with golden syrup, sliced bananas, blueberries and honey
Notes
Make sure to add a well mashed ripe banana into the batter. It makes a difference

Serve with any kind of berries you like (strawberries, blackberries)

Use a non-stick pan if available, pancakes flip much easily and use less oil

This is an American version of a pancake where a leavening agent gets used (here baking powder)

Use only the orange part while zesting an orange. The white part will be bitter

Whole Wheat Pancakes Stepwise:
Sift a cup of whole wheat flour along with the salt into a large mixing bowl

Mash and add half a ripe banana along with the orange zest

Slowly mix in milk as required to make a thick (dosa like) batter without any lumps
 
Add brown sugar and a 1/2 tsp of baking powder. Mix well

Add butter and mix well

Heat a skillet or pan. Make pancakes by pouring a ladleful of batter. Do not spread the batter
 
Wait till bubbles appear on the surface and dries out a bit
Flip the pancake slowly. Cook the underside of the pancake also till golden
  
Serve them stacked and warm with golden syrup, sliced bananas, blueberries and honey
