Cheese Croutons

Crispy cheesy croutons to serve with piping hot soup

Everybody loves croutons in soup especially if they are covered with cheese. Crispy easy to make croutons with just 3 ingredients and a pan/skillet.

Crispy cheesy croutons to serve with piping hot soup

Serves: 10-12 croutons
Ingredients
  • 1 mini whole meal/white Baguette
  • Few drops olive oil to drizzle
  • 50 gm grated hard cheese (any of your choice)
Method
  1. Grate the cheese into thick shavings yielding upto about ¼ cup cheese gratings
  2. Cut the mini baguette into small roundels/slices
  3. Drizzle some olive oil onto each roundel to add flavour
  4. Heat a pan/skillet. Place small spoonfuls of cheese in different piles on the pan
  5. Place a roundel of the baguette on each pile
  6. Wait till the cheese melts and toast a bit on the other side
  7. Serve immediately directly off the pan with a bowl of piping hot soup of your choice
Notes
Rub some garlic on the baguette before drizzling olive oil for extra flavour

Add some dried herbs if you want, dried oregano, dried thyme or dried basil or mixed herbs along with some ground black pepper

Parmesan cheese works best to make these cheesy croutons

The cheese does not stick to the pan instead it melts and sticks to the bread

Stepwise:
