Peas Pulao

A simple dal-chawal can sometimes be very boring. But if you can bring some life into your chawal by adding some fresh/frozen green peas and cooked till the peas/matar turn soft and bright green. The peas just pop-in-the-mouth and they make a boring dish spring back into life. So here it is a simple dish from FOI, peas pulao or matar ke chawal.
Peas pulao can be made literally at the last minute. Quickly make some dal in your pressure cooker, wash basmati rice set it aside. Mix cool cucumber into beaten yogurt/curd. Lastly cook basmati rice and throw in some fresh/frozen green peas when the rice is half done.

Make tadka for all 3 dishes at the same time, for cucumber raitha don’t add garlic, for chawal and dal garlic can be added but entirely optional. A simple yet fancy looking meal is ready in less than 30 minutes.
Peas pulao is one of my absolute favourites. When I was a kid there used be an ad on the television, of a brand of oil, with puffy pooris and fresh looking peas pulao. And I wanted to make it ever since. How many of you remember the ad 🙂 Try more pulao and rice bhaat recipes from FOI, pudina veg pulao, methi paneer pulao etc. Also try peas recipes peas kurma, peas risotto, matar kachori etc.
