Instant recipes are very much appreciated by my dear readers. On top of that if they are simple everyday recipes like this instant tomato saaru or rasam they are very popular. If you are short on time, a quick way to make fresh hot food is to make some rice along with this instant tomato saaru or rasam.
All this recipe needs is some tomatoes and puthani or roasted gram (hurigadale). Blend a few ingredients together and boil the instant tomato saaru or rasam. Some tadka or vaggarne with desi ghee sets up this recipe.
Infact I learnt from an aunt that this is how cooks sometimes make saaru or rasam in a quick way for a big group. No dal or saarina pudi/rasam powder required! The puthani holds the saaru together and imparts thickness to the instant tomato saaru or rasam.
