Creamy and delicious, healthy and fibrous sweet potato halwa
Ingredients
  • 500-550 Gms sweet potato
  • 1 Cup boiled milk
  • 4-5 elaichi powdered
  • 1 pinch cinnamon powder
  • Few strands of kesar
  • 4 Tbsp ghee
  • ½ Cup sugar
Method
  1. Wash and peel the sweet potatoes
  2. Dice them and add them to boiling water
  3. Boil them till the sweet potatoes turn soft
  4. Drain them and let them rest for a bit
  5. Mash them well with a potato masher, ensure there are no lumps
  6. In a pan, heat 2 Tbsp ghee and add the mashed sweet potato
  7. Saute on low flame
  8. Meanwhile heat milk on low flame till comes to a boil
  9. Pour milk into the sweet potato and mix well
  10. Cook until milk gets absorbed
  11. Next add sugar and mix well
  12. Add little warm milk into the saffron/kesar
  13. Pour this into the halwa mixture
  14. Cook until sugar gets absorbed
  15. Add cinnamon powder and powdered elaichi, mix well
  16. Lastly finish with 2 Tbsp ghee for the final gloss and halwa comes together
  17. Serve halwa warm or at room temperature
Notes
Add some dry nuts and raisins sauteed in ghee if you like

Ensure sweet potatoes are fresh and firm

If you do not have a potato masher use a ladle to mash
