Light and fluffy avalakki idli, an easy instant breakfast recipe
Ingredients
  • 1½ Cups idli rava
  • 1 Cup thin avalakki/poha
  • A pinch baking soda
  • 1 Cup curd
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to adjust consistency
Method
  1. In a bowl, take thin avalakki/poha
  2. In another bowl, take idli rava
  3. Keep all the ingredients together, poha, idli rava, baking soda and curd
  4. Pour water into idli rava and keep aside
  5. Wash poha twice with water
  6. Drain off excess water from both poha and idli rava
  7. To the poha, pour curd and mix and mash well
  8. Now pour this mixture into the idli rava bowl and mix well
  9. Season with salt and add a pinch of baking soda
  10. Fold the batter, add a few drops of water if it is thick
  11. Grease idli plates with oil
  12. Add the batter into the idli plates
  13. Steam for 12-14 minutes
  14. Serve hot with chutney and sambar
Notes
Using thin poha, makes it easy to make idli

The curd should not be sour

These can also be made in thatte idli moulds
