I had never imagined that one day I would document so many recipes with banana/plantain. Baalehannu rasayana, banana appam, baalekayi chips, baalekayi bajji, banana bread, banana milkshake, baalehannina dosa etc. The list is quite long and to make it longer we have a new kid on the block, enter banana chapathi! One of the best dishes to pack for the lunch box for kids, slather with little ghee and roll them up. Kids will absolutely love this banana chapathi!
Banana chapathi can make use of a nice ripe banana and it is flavoured with elaichi making it taste really delicious. My mother taught me this easy recipe and I make it for our office lunch box all the time! We love eating banana chapathi with mango pickle or some simple palya or curry.
Chapathis and theplas can be made in a wide variety of ways, carrot paratha, lauki thepla, beetroot paratha, tomato paratha, methi thepla, sabsige soppu paratha and so many more. Use regular whole wheat flour/atta to make these soft banana chapathi and lunch box will never be the same again
- 1 banana
- 1 Tsp sugar
- 2 powdered elaichi
- 1 Cup whole wheat flour/atta/godhi hittu
- A pinch salt

- Milk as required to make a soft dough
- Slice the banana and mash it completely with a fork in a bowl
- Add a pinch of salt and 1 Tsp sugar
- Add 2 powdered elaichi
- Into the bowl, add 1 Cup atta
- Add little ghee
- Next pour milk little by little
- Crumble the atta and knead till soft dough is formed
- Apply ghee and set aside for atleast half an hour
- Divide the dough into fist sized balls
- Roll into chapathis, dust with flour
- Roast chapathis on a hot tawa
- Apply oil and roast on both sides
You can also roast the chapathis with ghee instead of oil
Resting the dough helps in gluten formation and makes the chapathis soft
