Who doesn’t love a piece of well made soft cake! I am yet to meet someone who does not like cakes. Cakes are made in different ways with different flavours all over the world. Birthdays and celebrations are incomplete without cakes. So today we are going to learn to make eggless mawa cake, it’s my take of the very famous Parsi mawa cake.
Eggless mawa cake will melt in the mouth owing to its ingredients. The most important one being the mawa or khoya. Milk solids in a cake, what is not to like! The best things always come in small packages at least in this case, little bundles of joy and fun, Sri Krishna Janmashtami special Mathura Peda. This is one of the best sweets to be made for the festival, Mathura is believed to be the birthplace of our Lord! This is a simple and easy way to make Mathura peda and I am not aware whether this is an authentic recipe but it does taste really good. I love the small size of the pedas and children will absolutely adore them.
Mathura peda has only a few simple ingredients and you have a delicious sweet made in no time. I have used my homemade khoya/khova recipe to make khoya. Generally I make the khoya ahead of time in order to save some energy to actually make the pedas. If I make the khoya in the morning I make the pedas in the evening. This recipe is from my last year’s menu for the festival. ... “Mathura Peda | Pedha Recipes | Sweet Recipes”

Til or yellu or sesame is such a wonder ingredient. I am mesmerized with the versatility of this ingredient! It can be used as a base for savoury items like chutneys, gojjus and it can also be used to make sweets. In the Middle East, usage of sesame is on an other level! Tahini used in hummus, sesame halvah and what not! Indian cuisine uses sesame in the most unique ways. Here is one such delicious creation, til khoya ladoo or til ke bugge!
A rich and decadent ladoo made with oil-rich sesame seeds mixed with rich homemade khoya and sugar. How can that not be tasty! This Sankranti I decided to make these wonderful til khoya ladoo and wanted to post it immediately so many of you can try! I had no idea that I will be able to try these kind of sweets years ago when I started cooking. For me making these Dharwad Peda at home is a personal milestone in cooking. They taste so good… Do not know where to start exclaiming about this wonderful sweet.
Dharwad peda is a trademark and a well protected sweet recipe from the beautiful land of Dharwad, Karnataka. This recipe has been protected for generations by families like Mishra, Thakur from that region.
This recipe may not even be the way these Dharwad peda are prepared. But I won’t complain they taste so similar and look so similar. So no complaints. Hats off to those folks who have developed and perfected the ‘Dharwad Peda’ recipe for years. ... “Dharwad Peda | Pedha Recipes | Sweet recipes”
