All things stewed, I love them, they are the ultimate comfort food. A simple vegetable stew in coconut milk is my go to recipe. Be it, as a side dish with neer dosa or with some plain or special jeera rice, this stew is my favourite. Some mixed vegetables like potato, carrot, beans and some soft green peas all stewed in a simple coconut milk based curry, ultimate!

Making variations of famous dishes can be delicious at times. Like this avalakki bisi bele bhaat which is an easy alternative to making elaborate bisi bele bhaat. Both taste great and the textures are slightly different. For avalakki bisi bele bhaat I generally add mung dal or hesaru bele. Whereas for rice bisi bele bhaat we add toor dal or togari bele.
As this is a quicker version of traditional BBB it’s not necessary to grind a coconut masala. Avalakki or poha is quite light on its own so we do not need additional things to make it rich and heavy. Pulao is my go to one-pot dish for lunch or sometimes for dinner. Usually gets ready in a jiffy and some raitha on the side, you are set. Making an elaborate pulao will not be possible always. Back with another street food from FOI. This time it’s an Indo-Chinese dish, street style veg fried rice. Along with pav bhaji this used to be my favourite dishes to order in canteens near my college. A platter of gobhi manchurian to share with friends, the perfect combo! This time I made paneer manchurian to serve with veg fried rice. It also tastes delicious with veggies in hot gravy sauce. I have posted a few pictures below from another time.
For me the hit of this dish, veggies of course but it is freshly pounded black pepper which adds the distinct taste. It brings out the flavour of all the veggies and the slightly burnt taste gives it an unique flavour.
