I had no idea that I will be able to try these kind of sweets years ago when I started cooking. For me making these Dharwad Peda at home is a personal milestone in cooking. They taste so good… Do not know where to start exclaiming about this wonderful sweet.
Dharwad peda is a trademark and a well protected sweet recipe from the beautiful land of Dharwad, Karnataka. This recipe has been protected for generations by families like Mishra, Thakur from that region.
This recipe may not even be the way these Dharwad peda are prepared. But I won’t complain they taste so similar and look so similar. So no complaints. Hats off to those folks who have developed and perfected the ‘Dharwad Peda’ recipe for years. ... “Dharwad Peda | Pedha Recipes | Sweet recipes”

Creamy, thick, nutty, light green, pistachio doodh/milk

A thick milk based drink is a real energy booster especially after fasting. If it has dry nuts added to it the energy, fibre, taste quotient increases that much more. Light emerald coloured pistachios are not only pretty looking nuts their health benefits are also innumerable. They are one of the foods that helps in weight reduction as they are rich in dietary fibre and are known to reduce heart related ailments. They are also known to regulate sugar content and keeps diabetes at bay.
Like I mentioned, the health benefits of this wonder nut are next to endless probably. Their rich nutty flavour imparts a beautiful coarse texture, fragrance and colour when added to milk and also helps thicken milk. More flavour is added by elaichi or kesar (saffron) or both. Enjoy the creamy, nutty flavour of this rich flavoured milk! This is also a great drink for festivals like Holi, Naga Chauthi/Panchmi, Ram Navami. Other milk based drinks to try. ... “Pista Doodh | Pistachio Milk | How to make pista elaichi doodh?”
Crispy, salty, beetroot and potato peels roasted chips
9/13/2016 10:56:18 PM vindhyadesai
Any part of a vegetable that is edible should be consumed in its organic form. Discarding good quality ingredients like stalks, peels, clean shoots or roots is probably a sin against Mother Nature and farmers. Consuming vegetables, fruits and greens in their purest organic form is the best way of eating them. Try to convert simple ingredients into nice, tasty and fancy eatables like the one here with beetroot and potato peels. Use organic ones and rinse them beforehand. These crisps will disappear in a jiffy and they are ready in a few minutes. Try other potato and beetroot recipes so you get to make these crisps by saving the peels! These are also a healthy alternative to deep fried, oversalted chips. ... “Beetroot and Potato Peel Crisps”
Fun-filled, ice cream filled, decadent, indulgent ice cream cake
9/09/2016 7:22:33 PM vindhyadesai
Is it a cake, is it ice cream? As the name says, it is ice cream cake. Ice cream filled into a cake base and frozen back to solid. This is recipe number 100, a big milestone for Food Of Interest. Thank you to all those who have liked Food Of Interest and for trying out my recipes. It is my humble effort to try out and document Vegetarian/Vegan recipes from India and all over the world. This decadent, indulgent ice cream cake is adapted from Chef Lorraine Pascale‘s ‘Indulgent Ice Cream Cake’. It has a Swiss roll cake base (plain cake with layers of jam or marmalade all rolled into a tight roll) and vanilla ice cream filling. Use Swiss roll cake if you get it or try homemade one (recipe will be posted on FOI), or use regular Pound cake for the base. Layering a bowl with cling wrap is very essential for the cake to be inverted from the bowl and that resembles a half-spherical cake. More details in the recipe below. Please do share recipes from FOI, try them out and leave feedback on the website in ‘Comments’ section and don’t forget to ‘Rate’ the recipes on the website! 🙂 ... “Ice Cream Cake | Raspberry Swiss Roll Ice-cream Cake”
Delicious comforting warm cinnamon toast
08/10/2016 9:42:23 PM vindhyadesai
Bored of eating regular bread, butter and jam for breakfast? Why not try an easy comforting breakfast with bread. Easy to prepare and it takes the same amount of time as smearing butter on your toast. Fragrant cinnamon with butter on bread toasted till golden, that has to be a super combination. I used to make only chocolate toast in the same way and I also started making this with cinnamon after I saw the recipe on ‘thepioneerwoman’. This toast is very delicious, warm and you can make it in a jiffy. Keep the butter-cinnamon mix ready at night for an easy breakfast in the morning. I have used homemade whole wheat bread here but store bought bread can be the way to go if you are in a hurry. Serve with some slices of bananas, any fruits of your choice and a swirl of honey or golden syrup. ... “Cinnamon Toast”
