Delicious, festival special- a different spin to chitranna, veeledele chitranna
06/11/2019 9:58:31 PM vindhyadesai

After many months I finally could buy some veeledele/betel leaves here. They were fresh and tender and recently I had seen a bhaat recipe, probably in some magazine or on a TV show. So for a festival when I was thinking of making something different yet simple, I remembered veeledele chitranna.
Veeledele chitranna puts a different spin on traditional lemon rice or nimbehannina chitranna. Veeledele or betel leaves have a natural refreshing flavour which is why they are eaten after a lunch to cleanse the mouth and aid digestion. This veeledele chitranna turns out to be very refreshing too owing to its nice peppery flavour. ... “Veeledele Chitranna | Veeledele Bhaat | Betel Leaves Bhaat”

Crisp maddur vada is an emotion! I am not just writing a random sentence here, it is a fact! For making Maddur vada you need to get the proportions of flour right to get a crispy and beautiful texture. But the most important thing to make crisp maddur vada is to use finely chopped onions. Rose Milk With Sabja | Rose Milk | Summer Recipes

A chilled drink to beat the summer heat with mild pink hues, rose milk with sabja
06/04/2019 8:02:52 PM vindhyadesai

As a kid I always used to buy different kinds of cold flavoured milks like kesar badam, pista, rose milk etc. These flavoured milks loaded with sugar and the cooling effect always used to soothe my gut and make me feel energetic. Nowadays neither can I buy those flavoured milks here nor do I want to consume a lot of sugar. So rose milk with sabja seeds was made for Ram Navami this year.
For this simple rose milk with sabja seeds I have used boiled and cooled milk. Basically heat the milk on low flame till it rises up, switch off the flame and allow it cool till room temperature. Then store in the refrigerator for atleast 2-3 hours till chilled. Use authentic rose water to make rose milk. See notes to refer to what you can do in case you do not have good quality rose water or extract. ... “Rose Milk With Sabja | Rose Milk | Summer Recipes”

Appam With Yeast | Palappam | Appam Recipe

Soft and lacy, a soft centre with thin lacy textured sides, appam with yeast
06/02/2019 7:33:05 PM vindhyadesai

Who doesn’t like dosas? Dosas come in wide variety of colours and textures. They can be soft, lacy, spongy, crispy, papery, porous and many more textures. Based on what you add, dosas can be golden brown like in the case of masala dosa owing its colour to methi seeds. So here we are making Kerala special appam with yeast or palappam with a soft lacy texture and white in colour due to coconut milk and rice flour.
Appam with yeast or palappam is made by grinding rice or using palappam flour (rice flour). Here I have used flour to make appam. Appam needs a fermentation agent like yeast or coconut. So appam with yeast clearly indicates that we are using yeast as the fermentation agent which gives them the soft lacy texture. ... “Appam With Yeast | Palappam | Appam Recipe”
