How to roast a bell pepper | Roasted bell pepper or capsicum

It is often easy to buy sweet roasted bell peppers from a store. But homemade roasted bell pepper will be really fresh without any preservatives. Here’s how to roast a bell pepper at home. I have already mentioned how to roast a bell pepper for roasted bell pepper and avocado grilled cheese sandwich. Creating a separate DIY entry for it.

Sweet roasted bell pepper

Serves: 1 or 2 roasted bell pepper
Ingredients
  • Any kind of bell pepper - 1 or 2
  • Few drops of olive oil
  • Salt to sprinkle
Method
  1. Pre-heat oven to 200 C for 10 minutes
  2. Take a nice firm bell pepper. Wash it and dry wipe it
  3. Cut into half and remove the seeds and top. Quarter the bell pepper
  4. Place the quartered red bell peppers onto a sheet pan lined with foil
  5. Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle salt on the bell peppers
  6. Roast in oven for 20 minutes turning them once in between
  7. When their skins are lightly black and charred, peel their skins off and cut into thick slices
  8. Use them or store them refrigerated for a couple of days
  9. Use them for sandwiches, roasted bell pepper hummus, aioli or any dish you like
Notes
Use any kind of bell pepper, green, orange, red or yellow

Plunge the bell peppers in ice water for easy removal of their blackened charred skin

Pepper can be roasted whole, just prick the bell pepper with a fork to avoid a bell pepper mess in your oven

Retain the seeds if you want but for sweet roasted bell peppers remove and discard the seeds

Once roasted and cooled, chop them up and freeze them in a freezer safe food bag and use as required. Use within a month
