Masala Groundnuts | Khara Kadalebeeja | Snack Recipes

Crisp, karara, bakery style masala groundnuts or khara kadalebeeja
Ingredients
  • 1 Cup red peanuts
  • 2 heaped Tbsp besan
  • 2 Tbsp rice flour
  • ½ Tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼ Tsp hing
  • 1 pinch baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp groundnut oil
  • ½ or ¾ Tsp salt or to taste
  • 1½ Tbsp water (upto 2 tbsp)
Method
  1. Dry roast groundnuts till crisp and their skin changes colour. They should turn crisp. Let them cool
  2. Take roasted groundnuts into a bowl, add all dry ingredients starting with besan and rice flour
  3. Add masalas, red chilli powder, hing
  4. Sprinkle seasonings, salt and baking soda. Mix all these with the groundnuts
  5. Pour over a Tbsp of oil and mix to coat
  6. Now add 1 Tbsp of water and mix well again to coat. Add little more water to ensure all dry masalas get coated onto groundnuts
  7. Pre-heat oven to 180 Deg C. Spread out masala groundnuts evenly on roasting tray separating them as they are spread out
  8. Roast at 180 Deg C 13-15 minutes till crisp karara
  9. Serve with tea or coffee!
Notes
Use Kashmiri red chilli powder if possible for some nice red colour

Instead of red chilli powder you can also make yellow coloured ones by adding turmeric and adding little green chilli paste for some spice

Adjust seasonings as per your taste

These masala groundnuts can also be deep-fried in hot oil or medium flame. Yum!
