Serves: 2-3 people
- 1 Cup basmati rice
- 2 Cups water
- 2 Tsp oil/ghee
- 1 Tsp jeera/cumin
- ¾ Cup fresh/frozen green peas
- 5-6 black peppercorn for garnishing
- Salt to taste
- Wash basmati rice well till water runs clear
- Drain water and leave aside for 15-30 mins
- In a pan, add basmati rice, and cover with 2 Cups water
- When it is half done, tip in the green peas
- Add salt as well at this stage, cover and cook
- Make tadka with jeera/cumin, pour over rice
- Garnish with black peppercorn, fluff up, serve!
Add some whole garam masala if you like, bay leaves, laung, elaichi, dalchini
You can also add some chopped garlic while sauteing jeera/cumin
Ratio of cooking rice:water is 1:2, so use any measure. Double/triple recipe as you wish
